Water Testing

Testing your hot tub and pool water is really simple. It's the best way to see if your water is balanced. Sometimes it is very obvious that the water is unbalanced by just looking at it. It's usually discoloured and it might smell wrong. But sometimes, your spa water can look great and still be off balance causing damage to your hot tub and pool equipment and to your skin. Just because it's clear, doesn't mean it is safe! Unbalanced water can cause serious illness and threatens your spa and pool equipment, which can cause you a lot of money to fix! The proper levels for Bromine is 5 ppm and is 3 ppm for Chlorine. Your pH levels need to range between 7.4 and 7.8 ppm and alkalinity should range from 100-150 ppm. Most test strips are also color coded and you can see if your water is balanced just by matching up the colors on the test strip to the colors on the bottle they came in. Fairly simple. Just by using the right test kits your water can be maintained quickly and easily. Take a water sample to your nearest hot tub or pool store and most places will gladly help you out with getting you the right sanitization kit for your pool.
