Pool Cleaners Suction

The suction pool cleaner works by literally sucking the water and dirt from the bottom of the pool to the pump basket and filter. This process is done through a throat mechanism part of the actual cleaner. It pulls debris off the bottom of the pool by suction thus making it's way to the filtration site. The suction action also causes the automatic cleaner to move around the pool on it's own. Some suction cleaners have the ability to scrub the sides of your pool walls too. This gives the entire pool, walls included, a good scrubbing. The only downfall of suction cleaners is that they are not able to suction large debris. If large debris is suctioned up, it can get caught in the lines and throat of the cleaner and you must somehow get the throat free of the debris otherwise it will not operate properly. It operates very similar to the indoor vacuum system in your house. If the hose or head of the vacuum is clogged up with larger debris, there will be no suction.
