Cartridge filtration has been available and around the longest of all filtration systems. They tend to be the filter of choice for both pools and spas. They work very simply, water passes through the cartridge and a screen catches the dirt. They are similar to the filters in your homes, but specifically designed for water. Once the pores catches the larger debris, smaller particles will also begin to get filtered out as well, as the larger debris eventually clogs the screen. Every 3-4 months, your cartridge filter should be removed and simply sprayed gently with a garden hose and water. These filters last up to 5 years depending on how much work it has had to do.
