Check Valves - These prevent water from flowing in the wrong direction and they allow water to only flow in one direction. They consist of two openings, one to allow water to flow in and the other to allow water to flow out or leave, an entrance and an exit. They operate as a safety device in equipment that is not meant to get wet, such as your pump motor. Sometimes the cracking pressure of the check valve allows for leaking. Get a check valve designed for the specific cracking pressure your plumbing requires. Check vales are also found in chlorinators to prevent gas from entering the pool equipment.
